As a two year old, I got chicken pox but very badly. It was a curse of my generation really.
There was no vaccination at the time. When a child was infected with it, other parents were encouraged to bring their children to parties where you could expose your children to it and they would get it and “get over it.” The quicker the better, right?
Well, not for me. I was one of the unlucky few who now has to deal with it almost every year. It attacks my immune system when I get sick with a cold and I get pox breakout.
It sucked when I was two. I had it over my entire body, it left white scars everywhere. And now hits me in the same place again and again and is painful every time.
So yeah, vaccinations against diseases that should be preventable, kinda a big deal. Make the right choices for your children people. Don’t torture them because you were told they would get over it.
