Mothers

Mothers are very important. When you take a child away from its mother you cause serious damage to both of them. We have become so used to the concept of dual parent incomes that babies have been neglected and we wonder why we have so many issues with violence. Because our children become lost in childcare facilities.

Daycare centers are a communal place of development and a baby is passed from caregiver to caregiver. And I have a really hard time with thinking food feed to them in bottles and on trays is good for anything but building the structure for the school to prison pipeline.

So many children feel absolutely abandoned by their parents and it is evident. They float from activity to activity but see their parents for minimal hours a day.

In many cultures, a child is breast fed to two or even three years old and they rarely leave their mother’s side. In essence, they are a unit, a solid entity. And their societies benefit greatly from this.

So yeah, I am a proponent of family leave but I am also a huge proponent of allowing a supplemental mother’s income, especially for brown women who have historically been absolutely devastated by economic exploitation.
